content: In this memory, you are eight years old and watching your father double check his bag for all the neccessities. You're not happy, nearly in tears, and you sniffle into your scarf as Dad releases his Flygon. He told you and Mom two weeks ago that he's leaving (again), going to Hoenn to train and that wouldn't be bad on its own but... this time, he said, he won't be coming back. He doesn't want to be tied down here, to have to settle down when he wants to travel more. Mom has barely spoken to him since, (even now she won't see him off), and you're upset too. Why does he want to leave you forever?
Setting his bag down at his Flygon's feet, Dad pats her on the head before looking over to you. His smile softens and he walks over to you, reaching out to ruffle your hair; You shove his hand off your head, too upset to accept his usual affection. His smile falters. "Princess," he says, "I know you're upset, but I promise, I'll write you all the time and call you when I can."
You shake your head and stomp your foot. "But you won't come home!" You don't want letters or phone calls instead of visits, you want to see him!
He tries again, scratching the bad of his head. "You- You don't need me around, you've got your mom here!"
You realize you're crying but don't know when you started and turn around, fleeing into the house while he calls after you; You ignore him and slam your bedroom door shut. You don't want to hear any more excuses, and you don't want to watch him leave you behind either.
You stay in your room until its time for dinner, hugging your Clefairy doll tightly and wondering why you couldn't convince him to stay.
